Chief Operating Officer

Laura Kortokrax

Laura Kortokrax is Chief Operating Officer and a Partner of Reimbursement Recovery Partners (RRP), with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare operations, hospital reimbursement and consulting. She builds processes that get the same right result every time, in work where the rules are strict, and she leads RRP’s Medicare bad debt and Volume Decrease Adjustment (VDA) engagements personally, from the first review through settlement.

Before RRP, Laura was Chief Operating Officer of Healthcare Reimbursement Solutions (HRS), where she made operations run leaner and helped launch new services, including Medicare revenue services. From 2005 to 2013 she was Director of Audit and Reimbursement at Healthcare Payment Specialists (HPS), coordinating hospitals’ responses to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) audits and running quality control on Medicare bad debt, Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH), medical education and transfer Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) work. Across her career she has worked with every Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) and completed and defended well over a thousand Medicare audits, seeing each through MAC review to final settlement.

As Director of Data Integrity at North Texas Specialty Physicians and Southwestern Health Resources, she ran Medicare Advantage data submissions and oversaw claim audits by CMS, payers and providers. She began her career on the hospital side, as a discharge planner in intensive care units. Laura holds an MBA in business intelligence from Capella University and a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.

“Good operations come down to good people who know exactly what they’re responsible for.”
